Your Retreat Leaders

Positively Powerful, Rev. Jill Carey

Jill Carey seemingly blew into our spiritual lives like the fresh breeze of a spring day when she became the Spiritual Leader at Unity of Wimberley this past April 1.  Jill was ordained in 1992 when she graduated from Unity Ministerial School.  After her ordination she served in a wide variety of Texas Unity churches ranging from start-ups to long-established holding many positions including senior minister.  Over her 26 year ministerial career Jill has taken several breaks from being a full-time minister.  We are so pleased that she is "back in the pulpit" with us and ready to lead this retreat with Kit Holmes.

Kit Holmes

Creator of Happiness, Kit Holmes

With a gleeful "welcome back" Kit Holmes became the Associate Spiritual Leader at Unity of Wimberley in partnership with Rev. Jill this spring.  She is certified by the Center for Spiritual Living as a prayer practioner (RScP) and has been an integral leader at Unity of Wimberey through her superlative music and spirit for a number of years. She is an award-winning songwriter who has been performing, composing, arranging and producing music professionally since the age of 13. Kit is also a Certified Life Mastery Consultant (life coach) and an in-demand guest speaker and workshop presenter on songwriting, creativity, personal transformation and things of a spiritual nature. She and wife Cynthia Millonzi are renovating a riverside building in Manistee, Michigan, to create a listening room and condos. Kit served more than five years as music minister at Unity of Wimberley. She'll be co-leading the retreat as well as performing her great music.

Lovely Accommodations

We don’t do rustic!

The main building is the Hacienda, a three-story guest house where about half of us will stay. Others will be in surrounding cottages, all just steps away from our meeting house and dining hall.

Most bedrooms have two or three single beds with shared restrooms and showers. Visiting areas, large and small, are scattered through the buildings, some with gorgeous Hill Country views. Small kitchens are also provided in the buildings, with handy refrigerators for any snacks and drinks you care to bring.

PLEASE NOTE: Most of the bedrooms are upstairs, so pack light. These preferences may be indicated at registration:

Fabulous Food

We are women on retreat, and we will not be in the kitchen! Five delicious meals will be catered by [TBD], with attention paid to the wide variety of diets we follow. You will love the dining hall with its vaulted ceiling and heavy beams.

Hill Country Getaway

Well Spring gate

The Well Spring Center is reserved exclusively for church retreats and is supported by the Henderson-Wessendorf Foundation. The retreat area is nestled within 1,800 acres that still serve as a working ranch.

Prominent on the grounds is a 26-foot statue of Jesus created by Charles Umlauf, the 20th-century American sculptor whose pieces are featured at the Umlauf Sculpture Garden and Museum in Austin. Models and sketches Umlauf made as he designed the statue are displayed in the Hacienda.

What If I Have to Cancel? How

Don’t! You’ll kick yourself if you miss this retreat. Everyone will be talking about it the rest of the year.

But life happens, so if you have paid your registration and have to cancel, you can get your money back until Friday, Sept. 28. No refunds after that because plans will be locked down with the retreat center and caterer by then. But your registration is transferrable, and if you have to cancel at the last minute, someone on the waiting list might be very happy.

Other Questions?

We're happy to answer them. Email is probably best.
