Thank you for seeking ways to volunteer at Unity of Wimberley!
There's a lot going on and we're thrilled to have you on our team! Volunteering is a wonderful way to become a more involved member of the spiritual family, and there are volunteer opportunities to support many interests and talents for the benefit of all. If there is not yet a group to match your passion, let us know and we will create it.
Email Volunteer Coordinator Myla Rosebaugh or leave a message for her at 512-847-6587.
YOUTH AND FAMILY PROGRAM, TEACHERS AND ASSISTANTS
Our UniBabies, UniTots, UniKids and UniTeens gather every Sunday during our 11 am service. Volunteers assist in guiding our youth through Unity curriculum, taking the kids on hikes on our nature trails, assisting lead classroom teachers, and tending to our tiniest congregants. You can read more about YFM on their page. If you are interested in volunteering with the children, please contact Santa Heinemann, Youth and Family Ministry Director.
The Care Team is called to action whenever someone in the church family is in need of anything from Get Well wishes to a ride to the hospital. They call, drive, clean, care for kids, cook food and make hospital visits.
The Sunday Welcome Team are the friendly folks who greet everyone on the way into church on Sunday, especially newcomers who often have questions. The team arrives 30 minutes early and stays afterward for wrap-up duties. This a great way to meet new people and prepare a warm and welcoming environment for our first-time visitors.
SILENT PRAYER TEAM
This team takes the prayer requests submitted to the church and prays privately at home during the week. It is open to anyone who would like to pray.
Our chaplains are specially trained to lead prayers during Sunday services and pray one-on-one with people afterwards. Feel free to ask them for prayer about whatever is on your mind.
One of our favorite traditions is Potluck, which is served immediately following the 11 am service on the first Sunday of every month. Potluck is a wonderful way to prolong our Sunday experience by enjoying a delicious meal while chatting with old and new friends. We have three potluck teams, so each one hosts once per quarter, which means planning, setting up, serving and cleaning up.
WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT TEAM
Blessed by 43 acres of breathtaking Hill Country property, we maintain a wildlife exemption on all but seven acres. Meeting the qualifications for that exemption involves many opportunities to commune with and be good stewards of the beautiful natural environment we enjoy. The wildlife team works once a month to monitor our bird feeders, monitor the birds, build brush piles to protect small animals, and maintain the walking trails.
Our lovely xeriscaped flower gardens present never-ending opportunity to the gardening enthusiast along with those who just love to pull weeds! Through drought and floods, and through all four seasons, they're calling for tender loving care.
Walking a labyrinth is an ancient way to get centered, literally and metaphysically. Ours is open to the public and needs occasional maintenance.
A lovely fenced area with raised plant beds, our Serenity Garden is open to "Adopt-A-Section" if you want to maintain your own garden plot. Be aware water is scarce!
At least twice a year, we recruit volunteers to help cleanup our stretch of highway along FM 3237 that bears our name. We meet at the church for coffee and snacks, then load up and spend an hour or so beautifying the roadside. This is such an easy way to contribute to our good image.
