New to Unity?

Welcome! We are so glad you are interested in Unity.

At its foundation, Unity is a positive, practical, progressive approach to Christianity based on the teachings of Jesus and the power of prayer.

Unity honors the universal truths in all religions and respects each individual’s right to choose a spiritual path.

Our teachings are based on five ancient spiritual principles that run as a common thread through all the world's religions (below).

You also might want to check out the pages called What We Believe and How Unity Came to Wimberley to learn more about who we are. The page called What to Expect will walk you through the church from the front door.

Unity's Basic Teachings

  1. God is the source and creator of all.  There is no other enduring power.
God is good and present everywhere.

  2. We are spiritual beings, created in God's image.  The spirit of God lives within each person; therefore, all people are inherently good.

  3. We create our life experiences through our way of thinking.

  4. There is power in affirmative prayer, which we believe increases
    our connection with God.

  5. Knowledge of these spiritual principles is not enough.  We must live them.

Our minister, Rev. Ellen Debenport, wrote a book about these five principles, the universal spiritual laws that govern our lives. You may order it from Unity or Amazon, including a Kindle version.

The Five Principles is also available as a six-part DVD set designed for use in small groups or church classes. Mendhi Audlin interviewed Ellen Debenport about the principles to create the video series as well as a participant guide for group members.
