Minister:

Rev. Ellen Debenport began serving as minister at Unity of Wimberley on April 1, 2009. She is the author of The Five Principles, a book published by Unity House about the universal spiritual laws that govern our lives.
Ellen came to us from Dallas, where she was senior minister at the 1,000-member Unity of Dallas for four years, after working four years there as an associate minister as well. She resigned at the end of 2007 and took a year to write.
She serves on the board at Unity School of Christianity, our world headquarters, and until recently hosted "Absolute Living," an online radio talk show about living our lives according to spiritual principles. The shows can still be accessed anytime through Unity.FM. The show also has a Facebook group.
Before she was called to ministry, Ellen was a journalist with United Press International and the St. Petersburg Times, mostly covering politics. She was working in Washington, DC, before she left for Unity's ministerial school outside Kansas City, MO. Born in San Antonio, Ellen grew up in Odessa, Texas, and has a bachelor's degree in journalism from Baylor University.
Author:
Rev. Ellen's book, The Five Principles, is about the basic teachings of Unity and the universal spiritual laws on which they are based.
Bishop John Shelby Spong, author of A New Christianity for a New World, has this to say: "Ellen Debenport probes the edges of faith in this remarkable book and points the way into the future. The Christian world needs to hear the message that she brings for it opens doorways into tomorrow."
Ellen wrote The Five Principles to provide tools for daily living and to suggest answers to the great questions of existence that humans have been asking since the dawn of conscious awareness:
- What is this greater Presence that we sense around us?
- Who and what are we?
- Why do things happen in our lives the way they do?
- How can we communicate with this Presence?
- What are we here to do?
