Potluck Sunday
Another month, another potluck! Bring lots of good food to share after the service Sunday. Remember our vegetarian and vegan contingent, although the majority carnivores love barbecue and fried chicken. Salads, desserts, your favorite recipes - bring 'em!

Knitters Move
The Flying Fingers of Unity, who gather once a month to knit prayer shawls, are moving their meetings to the last Friday of each month. This month, that's Feb. 24. We are so grateful for the shawls that have comforted the sick, wrapped new babies, and generally let the recipients know they are blanketed in prayer and blessings.

Grief Group Tomorrow
10-Week Session Starts Thursday
Grief has many faces and many causes. It can be the result of death, divorce, illness, financial change, an empty nest, a move and many other life situations. And grief involves a complicated range of emotions. Nearly everyone carries unresolved grief.
Church member Molly Steel is beginning a 10-week program from 1-3 pm Thursdays at the church, beginning tomorrow, Feb. 2.

Most of what we're told about grief -- be strong, keep busy, time heals -- are myths that don't help. This program creates a safe environment in which to look at old beliefs about dealing with loss, assess the losses in your life and take new actions to complete the pain.
Molly has been certified by the Grief Recovery Institute and will be using the methods worked out by John W. James and Russell Friedman whose book, The Grief Recovery Handbook, is included in the $50 class fee.
The group is limited to 12 people who will commit to attendance and participation. This is not a drop-in group or support group. Contact Molly Steel to sign up.

"Pretentious Spirituality"
In the Bible they were called false prophets, today they're called televangelists or hucksters. We've all heard some hooey dressed up as spiritual revelation. But how do we tell? And are we guilty of it ourselves?

Marion Double Feature
Screening Two of Rodger's Films
Our own Rodger Marion makes movies, and by popular demand, he'll be showing two of them in the sanctuary after the service Sunday, Feb. 19.
Plan to stay to see <Impasse> and his earlier work, Wine Bar of the Mind. <Impasse> was filmed mostly at Old Glory Ranch, and Wine Bar was shot largely at the church with a few members as extras. Both short features are interesting, touching stories.
You may also buy or rent <Impasse> from the Amazon Instant Video Store.
